Details: <\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Just days after finalizing the purchase of California-based megachurch Crystal Cathedral, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange has decided not only to rename the site<\/a>, but also to take suggestions from the public on what the new name should be.<\/p>\n

More than 600 suggestions were collected<\/a> within the first 24 hours of the announcement, CBS Los Angeles reports.<\/p>\n

The only catch is that \u201cany suggested name have a \u2018Christological\u2019 relevance, that is, the name must refer to the nature and person of Christ or to his activities as illustrated by the gospels,\u201d according to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Participants should also stay away from names referencing Mary or even the apostles, CBS Los Angeles emphasized<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Entries are due by Feb. 20, and Bishop Tod Brown will announce the winner at a later date, according to diocese\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Naming restrictions aside, a writer for Patch offered some rather clever suggestions<\/a> for the church\u2019s new name, including Jesus Coast Plaza and Our Lady of Perpetual Windex \u2014 a dig the building\u2019s iconic glass exterior.<\/p>\n

The Diocese of Orange finalized the $57.5 million purchase on Feb. 3.<\/p>\n

The building will be redesigned and serve the area\u2019s nearly 1.3 million Catholics<\/a>, the Associated Press reports.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
