Here\u2019s a remarkable story<\/a><\/strong> of generosity and charity:<\/p>\n

A Kentucky businessman has bought out the entire stock of a closing-down Kmart store and donated it to charity.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Rankin Paynter runs a gold and jewellery buying centre in the Winchester area and knows how tough life can be for his hard-up customers.<\/span><\/p>\n

When he was shopping at the store for his own business, he asked what would happen to the leftover inventory when the shop closed in two days.<\/span><\/p>\n

Six hours and four cash registers later, Mr Paynter had cleared out the entire shop \u2013 at a personal cost of $200,000.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018To be honest, I could have made thirty to forty thousand dollars on it,\u2019 <\/span>he told NBC<\/span><\/a><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

He even rented out a building to hold the haul until it could be donated to a local community centre.<\/span><\/p>\n

Grateful for the success for his local business, Mr Paytner said he wanted to do something good for his customers.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s time to give back, you follow me?\u2019 he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Paytner \u2013 who set up his buying-and-selling business in 1965 \u2013 said that he knows how tough life can be for working families.<\/span><\/p>\n

Especially during the colder months.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018It was hard sometimes; I had rags on my feet sometimes. I only had summer slippers,\u2019 he said about his less-affluent past.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018But there won\u2019t be any needy people cold this winter I don\u2019t think,\u2019 he continued.<\/span><\/p>\n

Judy Crowe of Clark County Community Services, who received the huge donation, said they\u2019d never received such a large gift before.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018It was certainly unexpected. Businessmen are [usually] in business to make money,\u2019 she said<\/span><\/p>\n
