Trolling the web, I stumbled on this great little prayer, via Amy Cunningham<\/a> over at Beliefnet<\/a>:
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWarm all the kitchen with Thy love, and light it with Thy peace.
\nForgive me all my worrying and make my grumbling cease.
\nThou who didst love to give men food, in room or by the sea
\nAccept this service that I do, I do it unto Thee.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u2013found on a plaque at a flea market.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I think it struck my fancy because it\u2019s a shorter version of a familiar prayer<\/a> that my own mother had hanging over our kitchen sink when I was growing up:
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cLord of all pots and pans and things,
\nSince I\u2019ve no time to be
\nA saint by doing lovely things or
\nWatching late with thee,
\nOr dreaming in the twilight or
\nStorming heaven\u2019s gates.
\nMake me a saint by getting meals or
\nWashing up the plates.\u00a0Although I must have Martha\u2019s hands,
\nI have Mary\u2019s mind, and,
\nWhen I black the boots and shoes
\nThy sandals, Lord, I find.
\nI think of how they trod the earth
\nWhat time I scrub the floor,
\nAccept this meditation, Lord,
\nI haven\u2019t time for more.<\/p>\n

Warm all the kitchen with thy love,
\nAnd light it with thy peace,
\nForgive me all my worrying
\nAnd make all grumbling cease.
