Password management company SplashData has analyzed millions of passwords released online by hackers to compile its list of the most used passwords of 2012.<\/p>\n

Once again, \u201cpassword,\u201d \u201c123456\u201d and \u201c12345678\u201d were the top three most common passwords.<\/p>\n

But there were some interesting new additions to the list. \u201cJesus\u201d and \u201cWelcome\u201d were new. So were \u201cninja,\u201d \u201cmustang\u201d and, intriguingly, \u201cpassword1.\u201d<\/p>\n

Our favorite password on the list, \u201ctrustno1,\u201d fell three spots from last year, making it only the 12th most common password. \u201cShadow\u201d moved up one spot to No. 18 from No. 19. And \u201cmonkey\u201d remained unchanged at No. 6.<\/p>\n

SplashData recommends that if you use one of the passwords on this list, you change it immediately.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven though each year hacking tools get more sophisticated, thieves still tend to prefer easy targets,\u201d said Morgan Slain, SplashData\u2019s chief executive, said in a statement. \u201cJust a little bit more effort in choosing better passwords will go a long way toward making you more secure online.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
