<\/iframe><\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/2018\/07\/16\/investigation-into-weeping-virgin-mary-statue-continues.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Details:\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote>\nA sculpture of the Virgin Mary that appeared to be crying at a church in New Mexico is being investigated after it was determined her tears were olive oil.<\/p>\nThe statue, which is located at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hobbs, underwent a chemical analysis that was determined to be \u201ca scented olive oil.\u201d<\/p>\n\u201cSome of the witnesses claimed it smelled of roses,\u201d Bishop Oscar Cantu, of the diocese, told the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lcsun-news.com\/story\/news\/local\/2018\/07\/15\/investigative-team-examines-tears-weeping-hobbs-statue\/785843002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" class=\" decorated-link\">Las Cruces Sun News<\/a>. \u201cSo something similar to the oil I bless and consecrate each year that we use for baptism, for confirmations and for ordination of the priests.\u201d<\/p>\nAn investigation is underway to figure out whether there was a natural cause behind the liquid found on the hollow bronze sculpture, Cantu said.<\/p>\nThe diocese also examined the interior of the statue and determined nothing there was irregular.<\/p>\n\u201cThere\u2019s nothing on the interior that\u2019s not supposed to be there, except for cobwebs,\u201d he told the news outlet. \u201cSo we took pictures; we examined it.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\nWhat happens next? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lcsun-news.com\/story\/news\/local\/2018\/07\/15\/investigative-team-examines-tears-weeping-hobbs-statue\/785843002\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Las Cruces Sun News<\/a><\/strong> says:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\nIf the church concludes the origin of the tears is supernatural, it also must decide whether they\u2019re from God or an evil spirit, according to\u00a0Cant\u00fa. That will be assessed based on the \u201cfruits\u201d of the phenomenon. Some people have reported \u201cbeautiful, positive fruits\u201d so far after seeing the sculpture, he said.<\/p>\n\u201cI\u2019ve read most of those written testimonies, and they are stories of tremendous faith, people who have been dealing with terrible suffering in their lives and have felt a tremendous spiritual consolation that Mary walks with us in our tears,\u201d he said. \u201cI can\u2019t help but think of my own shedding of tears for the poor people who come to our border, fleeing life-threatening situations. The tears of those children who are separated from their parents.
