Katy Perry revealed her mother prayed her whole life the singer would \u201ccome back to God\u201d and said she\u2019s now focused on \u201cspirituality and heart wholeness\u201d while in her 30s.<\/p>\n

In a\u00a0Vogue Australia<\/a>\u00a0interview published Tuesday, Perry, 33, said her parents were not big fans of her 2008 hit \u201cI Kissed a Girl.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mom has prayed for me my entire life, hoping I\u2019d come back to God,\u201d Perry said. \u201cI never left Him, I was just a little bit secular, I was more materialistic and more career-driven.\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer said now that she\u2019s in her 30s, she\u2019s evolved to become \u201cmore about spirituality and heart wholeness.\u201d Her change comes after she met Pope Francis in April with her mother and boyfriend Orlando Bloom. Perry was in Vatican City during the \u201cUnited to Cure\u201d international conference.<\/p>\n

Perry said Tuesday she\u2019s been a \u201cbig fan\u201d of the pope.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a combination of compassion, humility, sternness and refusal. He is rebel \u2013 a rebel for Jesus,\u201d Perry told the magazine. \u201cHe is bringing the Church back to humility and connecting with people. He\u2019s very humble and not frivolous.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
