It happened last Saturday, but here\u2019s the story in The Catholic Free Press:\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Bishop McManus is to ordain nine men permanent deacons at a 10 a.m. Mass June 1 at St. Paul Cathedral, 15 Chatham St., Worcester. All are welcome. The Mass is to be streamed live at worcesterdiocese.org.
\nDeacons assist in the celebration of Mass as ordinary ministers of Holy Communion, and by proclaiming the Gospel and preaching. They can assist at marriages and preside over funerals, and are dedicated to works of charity.<\/p>\n

Following are the biographies of the men being ordained. Those with bachelor\u2019s degrees are to receive their master\u2019s of theology in advanced diaconal studies from St. Joseph\u2019s College of Maine after their ordination.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The new deacons are:\u00a0Martin W. Beck Jr.;\u00a0Thomas Robert Creamer;\u00a0Alex Matias Garcia; Paul Gialanella;\u00a0Juan Jesus Guzman;\u00a0Gilberto A. Javier-Almonte;\u00a0Daniel Francis Lavoie;\u00a0Samuel Andoh Morrison; and Thomas E. Tierney.<\/p>\n
