That could be the title of a revealing memoir by Gaby Rodriguez\u00a0 (with a nod to the classic \u201cBlack Like Me<\/strong>\u201c<\/a>), recounting her experiences as a pregnant teen \u2014 who, it turns out, wasn\u2019t really pregnant after all.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>After surviving six months of high school with a steadily growing baby bump, Gaby Rodriguez<\/a> finally delivered the big news: She was never really pregnant.<\/p>\n

The straight-A student instead faked the whole thing as part of her senior project on \u201cStereotypes, Rumors and Statistics.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rodriguez revealed the bizarre tale \u2013 and removed her wire mesh and cotton quilt bulge \u2013 at a school assembly this week, three months before her July 27 \u201cdue date.\u201d<\/p>\n

The social experiment was a well-kept secret, with the 17-year-old Yakima, Wash., senior sharing her plan with only her mother, boyfriend, school principal and a few select others.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt times, I just wanted to take it off and be done,\u201d Rodriguez told the Yakima Herald-Republic<\/a> after breaking the news. \u201cI didn\u2019t want to go through this anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Rodriguez removed her phony stomach, there was initially shock among the 700 students at Toppenish High School<\/a>. But it quickly gave way to applause \u2013 and later, a standing ovation.<\/p>\n

Principal Trevor Green \u2013 while quick to say he wouldn\u2019t let his daughter pull such a move \u2013 praised Rodriguez for her commitment to the plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn essence, she gave up her senior year,\u201d Green told the Yakima<\/a> paper. \u201cShe sacrificed her senior year to find out what it would be like to be a potential teen mom. I admire her courage.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
