From the<strong><a class=\"ext-link decorated-link\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.icatholic.org\/article\/deacon-rick-and-lori-klein-depart-1455517\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"> Intermountain Catholic<\/a><\/strong> newspaper in Salt Lake City:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\">Deacon Rick Klein\u2019s move from Moab to Fort Collins, Colo. \u201ccreates a tremendous ministry hole,\u201d said Father William Wheaton, pastor of the parishes Saint Pius X in Moab and Saint Joseph in Monticello and Sacred Heart Mission in La Sal; he also covers Saint Michael the Archangel Mission in Green River.<\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><a class=\"ext-link decorated-link\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/aleteiaen.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/11\/p01b_web.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-23775\" title=\"p01b_web\" src=\"https:\/\/aleteiaen.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/11\/p01b_web.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"249\"><\/a>\u201cRick has been just a gift here, especially in terms of his preaching,\u201d Fr. Wheaton said. \u201cHe has a wonderful gift of being able to really connect with people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\">In addition to preaching once a month or so, Deacon Klein often conducted Sunday Celebrations in the Absence of a Priest when Fr. Wheaton was unable to celebrate Mass for one of the Catholic communities in the area. In addition, this past year he taught the Confirmation class at St. Michael the Archangel Mission.<\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\">\u201cThat was just a tremendous help to me because I couldn\u2019t cover it all,\u201d said Fr. Wheaton, who spent six hours a week in Green River each Tuesday, teaching First Communion and 4th- through 6th-grade religious education classes, on top of the two-hour round trip travel time.<\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\">Fr. Wheaton said he also will miss Deacon Klein because he will now have to prepare a homily every week. \u201cJust from a practical standpoint, to be able to have one Sunday a month or one Sunday every six weeks where you can have a little break and hear someone else\u2019s perspective on the Scripture is a gift. Now I don\u2019t have that. It\u2019s difficult in these rural areas where we don\u2019t have deacons to have any kind of a break at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\">With Deacon Klein\u2019s departure, the only ordained clergy in the area from Interstate 70 to the Utah border are Fr. Wheaton and Deacon Tom Corrao in Monticello. The nearest priests are about 100 miles away: Father Donald Hope at Notre Dame de Lourdes Parish in Price and Father Albert Kileo at Saint Anthony of Padua Parish in Helper.<\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\">Deacon Klein\u2019s leaving \u201ccreates a tremendous ministry hole in these rural areas when you have such limited resources,\u201d Fr.
