Remember that scene in A Few Good Men,<\/em> where Colonel Jessup, his pride having conquerd his instinct for self-preservation, screams, \u201cYOU\u2019RE DAMN RIGHT I ORDERED A CODE RED ON [WHATEVER THAT KID\u2019S NAME WAS]\u201d? Well, it looks like Al-Qaeda has reached that point, with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the role of Lieutenant Kaffee.<\/p>\n

In response to Ahmadinejad\u2019s address to the U.N., in which he called the September 11th attacks \u201cmysterious,\u201d and urged investigation into \u201cunknown elements involved,\u201d an official al-Qaeda organ felt moved to, well, refudiate him.<\/strong><\/a>. An editorial in the latest issue of Inspire,<\/em> the English-language magazine put out by Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, or AQAP, the organization\u2019s Yemeni affiliate asks: \u201cWhy would Iran ascribe to such a ridiculous belief [in U.S. governmental responsibility] that stands in the face of all logic and evidence?\u201d<\/p>\n

This turns out to be a rhetorical question. The editors answer it themselves:
\n\u201cal Qaeda was a competitor [with Iran] for the hearts and minds of the disenfranchised Muslims around the world. Al Qaeda\u2026 succeeded in what Iran couldn\u2019t. Therefore it was necessary for the Iranians to discredit 9\/11 and what better way to do so? Conspiracy theories.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Yahoo! News, Laura Rozen points out that this exchange recalls a
\ngag newscast<\/strong><\/a> that appeared on Onion News back in 2008. That\u2019s funny enough.
