Friends, I\u2019ve been phoning it in for the past couple of months. \u00a0I guess the writing\u2019s been okay, but there\u2019s not been enough of it! \u00a0Not posting a lot = not many folks reading. \u00a0Not many folks reading = sad writer.<\/p>\n

But here\u2019s the thing: \u00a0there is this little house we are in. \u00a0Outside this little house is an orchard with apple trees that have been there for decades; \u00a0there are also new apple and pear trees just getting their legs under them. \u00a0They all want mulch and songs.<\/p>\n

There are huge swaths of rosemary with their tiny purple flowers and willow trees blossoming on the hillside; there is lavender, spilling their sweet scent. \u00a0There are immense rose bushes; so big that C. has hollowed out the center of one of them to make a Rose Room. The whole property literally hums with bees.<\/p>\n<\/iframe>\nThere are 11 new hens, not quite old enough to start laying, but soon. \u00a0We have 3 Rhode Island Whites and 5 Black Australorps; also 2 Black Sex-links that the hatchery gave us because in the original delivery 2 of the hens were \u2018damaged\u2019. \u00a0One of the Whites was missing an eye (though she was in good health otherwise!) and one of the Australorps had a twisted foot. \u00a0We\u2019re keeping those two and we\u2019ll see how they lay. \u00a0It\u2019s no extra stress to take care of them thus far. \u00a0They all want bugs and cooing.<\/p>\nThere are the 5 goats. \u00a0Did I mention that Goat = Cat + Monkey? \u00a0Yeah. \u00a0Some of you out there are laughing to yourselves right now; I hear you! \u00a0They *are* a challenge, but we\u2019re figuring it out. \u00a0The goats want\u2026well, whatever they want at the moment, that\u2019s what!<\/p>\nThere\u2019s the incredible sunset, and the night sky full of numberless stars. \u00a0There are crickets chirping and the crackle of light in the woodstove. \u00a0We got a little bit of rain in early February and the frogs started croaking again. \u00a0They want listening to.<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/439\/2015\/02\/425.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-696\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/439\/2015\/02\/425-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"425\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\"><\/a><\/p>\nSo, outside are all these beings wanting something! \u00a0Inside is small and cozy (and crowded), full of half-finished projects and areas that are still more barn storage than home. \u00a0There is so much to distract one from putting fingers on keyboard!<\/p>\nSo to keep you (and me) interested in what\u2019s happening here, I want to mix it up a bit,\u00a0\u00a0post videos, more pictures and short-diary-entry type biz. I want to stay in touch with the little community which has been slowly growing up around this blog malarkey. \u00a0I look forward to your thoughts and comments.
