Gingrich Gets Another Key Endorsement

Gingrich Gets Another Key Endorsement January 4, 2012

Newt Gingrich has picked up another huge endorsement, one that is so powerful that it could propel him to the top of the polls once again and a likely victory in Iowa: Disgraced evangelist Ted Haggard.

Ted Haggard, former president of the National Association of Evangelicals, says he will support Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich in 2012.

“I am a Newt Gingrich fan partially because he models resurrection to me. He has been married three times, he has gone through his own infidelity, his own growth process, and his own repentance and renewal of faith so I trust him because of that,” Haggard told FOX 411.

And here’s an interesting coincidence, given an equally important endorsement that was later withdrawn:

Haggard will star on the premiere episode of ABC’s hit series “Celebrity Wife Swap,” opposite actor Gary Busey.

That can’t be a coincidence. I think God is behind all of this. He clearly wants Gingrich to win. Or at least to make sure that he has the snorted-meth-off-a-hooker’s-ass vote sewn up. I predict a comeback in New Hampshire now.

Newt models resurrection? WTF?!!! I thought that good Xians were supposed to do what jebus said to do, not he fucking opposite.

I guess my dad was right again (darn it). No one is completely useless, you can always be used as a bad example.

So he trusts Gingrich because he lied before. What an odd thing to say.

And will the wife he swaps be male or female?

  • “And here’s an interesting coincidence, given an equally important endorsement that was later withdrawn:”

Prolly about the same time that Mr. Busey’s penis was withdrawn from Mr. Haggard.

  • The entire Republican campaign increasingly puts me in mind of the demented story and characters in “Alice in Wonderland.” Inclding a bizarre tea party. Just when you think it can’t get any stranger, it does. Again and again.

  • So he trusts Gingrich because he lied before. What an odd thing to say.

I think what Haggard means is, Haggard can trust Gingrich because Gingrich is such an obvious liar, hypocrite, phony and fuckup that he’ll never be in a position to talk down to Ted Haggard. Compromised people tend to trust other compromised people for that reason — it’s the glue that holds the entire Republican Party together.

  • Speaking of compromised people sticking together, I’m hearing that John “Get Off My Lawn(s)” McCain is about to endorse fellow-moderate-turned-Christian-Reich-bitch Mutt Romney.

I actually watched that last night, Busey is awesome in it, he mixes a ton of religions together and goes off on some great tangents. One good thing to come out of it is Busey’s girlfriend/wife seems to genuinely love him which I thought was cool. All I can say is she must be a very patient person.

  • I’d have thought Santorum was more what Haggard would be into.

Goddamn, good thing I wasn’t drinking at that moment!
