Kimmel on the Pope and Same-Sex Marriage

Kimmel on the Pope and Same-Sex Marriage January 15, 2012

Jimmy Kimmel responded to Pope Palpatine’s claim that same-sex marriage threatens the very existence of the human race by offering a scenario by which it could actually happen. You should be terrified by it:

I saw an anti-abortion cartoon years ago which pushed this idea to an extreme:

“O Lord, why don’t we have enough doctors?”

    “BECAUSE YOU ABORTED THEM!”

I think this late-nite comedian is on firm theological ground.

  • exdrone

I thought that the problem was that we were all going to be forced to marry someone of the same sex, at least until such time that the indoctrination campaign converted everyone. I guess I’ll stop looking at gay dating sites then. That’s a relief; the abs on those dudes were depressing me.

  • laurentweppe

@ exdrone: naaaaaaah, the problem, according to biggots, is that if gay marriage is made legal, gays who used to marry someone from the other gender and made kid because of social pressure won’t do it anymore and therefore dramatically diminish natality. It’s part of the “Humans are Cattle” mentality, which postulate that humans are going to die as a species if there is not someone to closely monitor them and enforce “productive” behavior. Some people took the “good shepard” metaphor waaaaay too literally.

As my old French teacher, “Growler” Stevenson used to say – the shepherd doesn’t guard the sheep for sheep’a benefit.

  • So how many priests and nuns don’t procreate because they don’t take vows to members of the opposite sex?

Obviously the solution to the continuation of the human race is for the pope to order priests to rape nuns instead of little boys.

mucklededun #1 The converse would be – Why are there so many patients? Because you didn’t abort them.

    7 billion and counting.

So, before the Christian church’s thousand-year panic about homosexuality, and before marriage was formalised as a religious ceremony, how did the human race increase in numbers? I mean, we are talking tens of thousands of years without the pope wetting himself over the thought of, possibly, less than 5% of the population marrying.

Didaktylos (#4) – wasn’t that more like: “le berger ne regarde pas les moutons pour le bénéfice de la brebis”?

    🙂 Dingo

  • laurentweppe

wasn’t that more like: “le berger ne regarde pas les moutons pour le bénéfice de la brebis”

More like Le berger ne surveille pas le troupeau au profit de ses moutons. And this is une réponse du berger à la bergère

  • dingojack

Laurent – Sheep charge interest for privelege of warning the herd (of some other animals, perhaps cows)? Who knew? 😀

    Dingo

PS: Ask yourself, would you hire a dingo as a shepherd?

  • dingojack

Curious that French, unlike English, seems devoid of collective nouns. How sad.

    Une assassiner des corbeaux.

    Une assassiner des corbeaux.

That’s “Une nuée de corbeaux” (literally a swarm of crows) or “Un vol de corbeaux” (literally a flight of crows, but “vol” can also means theft).

Anyway: see how gay marriage is dangerou? You start talking about it and the next thing you know, you’re learning French

Obviously the solution to the continuation of the human race is for the pope to order priests to rape nuns instead of little boys.

Actually this does happen rather quite a lot and it’s really sad and horrible. Generally the church doesn’t even step in until nuns are having babies left and right. One church had 29 simultaneously pregnant nuns, with exactly zero of them impregnated consentually.
