Glenn Beck and every Christian hysteric and their mothers have been losing their minds over the placing of a replica of the entry arch of the ancient temple of Baal from Palmyra in Times Square. Turns out they’ve been flipping out over nothing. The arch that will go on display is not from that temple at all.
Everyone knows the five major party presidential candidates still in the race. And there’s a decent chance you know who Gary Johnson (Libertarian Party) and Jill Stein (Green Party) are. But I’m afraid you may be overlooking some other very serious candidates for president. How many are there? 1,669 to be exact. And some of the make pretty compelling cases.
When Donald Trump signed that pledge not to run as an independent if he doesn’t win the Republican nomination and to support the nominee, I wrote at the time that this was worth less than the paper it was printed on because he would invent some slight to justify breaking that pledge. I’m clearly a better prophet than Glenn Beck.
The Bryan Fischer Award is given to those who display a staggering lack of self-awareness and this may be the most blatant example of that I have ever seen. Ted Cruz, who claims that he only ran for president because he got permission from the Holy Spirit, says that you shouldn’t wear your religion on your sleeve. Hemant has the transcript:

Professional liar David Barton doesn’t just lie, he lies with total shamelessness and he’ll repeat those lies over and over again, no matter how many times they’ve been debunked. One lie he loves to repeat is the claim that those on welfare programs are given an average of $61,000 a year.

David Barton is not just a professional liar, he’s also a slavery apologist. In an interview with Glenn Beck this week, he actually said that race relations were better when whites owned black slaves because the whites treated them like members of the family. And whites don’t get enough credit for ending slavery!
Bill Cloud at the Worldnetdaily offers up the usual “America is only here because of God’s providence” nonsense while defending Glenn Beck from mockery for asking his followers to pray and fast for Ted Cruz to win the Nevada caucuses and become the next president of the United States. Get ready for some serious nonsense:
While his fellow wingnuts spin lurid tales of dark conspiracies about President Obama having Justice Antonin Scalia murdered, Bryan Fischer agrees with Glenn Beck that Almighty Gawd himself killed him. And he had to have a reason, right? The reason, he declares, is to make the Supreme Court the focus of the presidential campaign.
Glenn Beck has introduced David Barton in the past by claiming he has a PhD in history, with Barton not bothering to correct him. Now in an interview to promote the re-release of the aptly named The Jefferson Lies, Barton admits that he doesn’t have a PhD. And then immediately says he does.
