A Poster calling Dara Singh as the World Cup Holder<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nHe was born\u00a0Deedar Singh Randhawa in the Amritsar area. \u00a0He started his wrestling life in the Akharas of India in traditional wrestling and won many matches. \u00a0He would be called by Kings of the princely states for dangals. \u00a0In 1947, he fought against Tarlok Singh in Singapore and became the Champion of Malaysia.<\/p>\n
He later won his matches in India as well and became\u00a0\u00a0Rustam-E-Hind<\/em>\u00a0in 1954. \u00a0He fought against the greatest wrestlers of that time like\u00a0King Kong (Australia), George Gordienko (Canada), John Desilva (New Zealand) and other wrestlers in India and remain undefeated in over 500 wrestling matches. \u00a0He fought his last match in 1983.<\/p>\nIn his movie career, he acted in 144 movies \u2013\u00a0121\u00a0Hindi\u00a0feature films and 21\u00a0Punjabi\u00a0films, with one guest appearance each in Telugu and Malayalam movies. \u00a0He had many box office hits like:\u00a0Awara Abdulla , Rustom-E-Baghdad,\u00a0Faulad, Veer Bhimsen, Samson , Hercules, Tarzan Comes to Delhi, Sikandar E Azam, Rustom-E-Hind, Raaka, Boxer, and Daku Mangal Singh.<\/p>\n
He also produced and directed movies. \u00a0As a Director, his successful movies were \u2013\u00a0Sawa Lakh Se Ek Ladaun,Nanak Dukhiya Sub Sansar, Dhyanu Bhagat, and Rab Dian Rakhan \u2013 all in Punjabi. \u00a0He also wrote story for 7 movies.<\/p>\n
Today, this multifaceted person breathed his last at his house in Juhu, Mumbai at\u00a012 July 2012, at 7.30 am local time<\/p>\n
