Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement, 2011 Bill (LARR Bill 2011) is an important regulation, the final draft of which was cleared by the \u201cGroup of Ministers\u201d (GoM) this week.\u00a0 It will now be introduced in the Winter Session.\u00a0 It has also been renamed<\/a> as Right to Fair Compensation, Resettlement, Rehabilitation and Transparency in Land Acquisition Bill.<\/p>\n

The Act\u2019s provisions will apply when the \u201cappropriate Government\u201d acquires land:<\/p>\n

(a) for its own use, hold and control; or
\n(b) with the purpose to transfer it for the use of private companies for public
\npurpose (including Public Private Partnership projects but not including national or
\nstate highway projects); or
\n(c) on the request of private companies for immediate and declared use by such companies of land for public purposes:
\nProvided that no land shall be transferred by way of acquisition, in the Scheduled Areas in contravention of the law relating to land transfer, prevailing in such Scheduled
\nAreas.<\/p>\n
