It has been over a month now since the gang rape in Delhi happened and Jyoti Pandey died a horrendous death after shaking the entire country, and indeed the world, in just 13 days.<\/p>\n

The youth were out in the streets.\u00a0 The Government clamped curfew.\u00a0 Closed all routes to the city center.\u00a0 A police man also died.\u00a0 Many activists came out, protested, got beaten and arrested.<\/p>\n

The Police got a bad rap.\u00a0 The Godmen and Mullahs wrapped themselves into their own binds.\u00a0 Politicians weaved a web of their own and jumped into it.<\/p>\n

It seemed as if the country was coming awake.\u00a0 There was an energy around the streets of Delhi.\u00a0 A sense of purpose amongst the youth.<\/p>\n

In our efforts to find answers, people tried to question everything \u2013 from religions, to culture, to our history, our conscience, our upbringing, our parents\u2026. And above all our entire mindsets.\u00a0 We proudly said, we were ashamed of being Indians.\u00a0 Cleverly segregating ourselves from the \u201crest\u201d, and feeling cleaner by taking the high road.\u00a0 We shuddered to say, that we are ashamed of \u201courselves\u201d, for Jyoti and her assailants reside in us.\u00a0 Each one of us.<\/p>\n

We have come to a point in the journey, where we have painted almost everything black.\u00a0 God. Men.\u00a0 Godmen.\u00a0 Culture. Ourselves. Laws.<\/p>\n

But rapes are still happening at a faster clip than they ever did.<\/p>\n

Outrage\u2026. More outrage\u2026 anger\u2026 more anger.\u00a0 We have broken things, broken our own bones, our hearts, some lives as well.\u00a0 But what have we gained?<\/p>\n

What did Jyoti\u2019s death get her?\u00a0 If Jyotis are to happen despite our outrage, despite our anger and blackening the world; then why fight?<\/p>\n

It is time to look back \u2013 not at the events\u2026 but ourselves.\u00a0 And see.. if we have done justice to our outrage.<\/p>\n
