Today one witnessed Barack Obama take the oath of office.\u00a0 In a remarkable set of ceremonies, Republicans and Democrats joined in.\u00a0 Those who have opposed Obama tooth and nail, disagree with his policies joined in to welcome the 44th President of United States.<\/p>\n

George Washington, once asked a lady \u2013 what will decide the future of this nation?\u00a0 And, then thoughtfully replied his own query, and I paraphrase \u2013 It won\u2019t be who becomes the first President and how he governs, but how the power transitions to the Second President.<\/p>\n

It is not what you do when powerful, but how you don\u2019t run down those who replace you or oppose you in a democracy that makes it worth something.<\/p>\n

India has two main parties \u2013 there are many, but two are main ones \u2013 the Congress and the BJP.\u00a0 Congress has a history of creating the ghost and specter of majority communalism and then beating the opposition down.\u00a0 This started with our independence.\u00a0 When Nathuram Godse killed Gandhi, he clearly said \u2013 in an emotional but rationally argued speech \u2013 that what he did was his own idea and plan.\u00a0 Although he had worked with the RSS at some point, no one in the organization was part of what he did.\u00a0 Yet, thousands of RSS workers were arrested.\u00a0 The organization was banned.\u00a0 Jan Sangh was made a pariah.\u00a0 Even when the Judge of Punjab High Court, whose judgment clearly and completely exonerated RSS of any wrong doing.<\/p>\n

Yes, RSS cares for the Hindu group in India and that is NOT a crime.\u00a0 Since when did representing the interests and concerns of one section of Indian society become a crime?\u00a0 I have seen and watched RSS shakhas.\u00a0 They profess nationalism \u2013 dreamy and romantic sometimes \u2013 but love for the nation nevertheless.\u00a0 Another thing it teaches is discipline and character building.\u00a0 Two more things that are important.\u00a0 They have protested and spoken out against the wrongs of other communities, which is their right.\u00a0 If someone feels abused \u2013 even if you don\u2019t agree with him \u2013 he has a right to his grievance.\u00a0 You cannot just take away that right.\u00a0 And, Hindus \u2013 many of them that I have heard and read \u2013 ARE aggrieved.\u00a0\u00a0 Name-calling, pooh-poohing their concerns and putting them down will not help.<\/p>\n

As for the violence by RSS workers.\u00a0 Person-for-person, looting-for-looting, killing-for-killing \u2013 MORE crimes have been committed by even smaller regional parties in UP in one year, than all the crimes committed by RSS in its entire existence.\u00a0 If we call RSS a violent and \u201cterrorist\u201d organization, pray on what basis is it?\u00a0 More than the reason of \u201cBecause I say so\u201d.<\/p>\n

My personal take on the RSS functioning today is not very charitable because it is too politicized and uselessly rhetorical, but beyond the personalities, the organization serves important purpose.\u00a0 And, India needs that. To understand RSS and its need for the country, it is important to hear it from some one who can credibly comment not just on the myth of Nathuram Godse and RSS plan to kill Gandhi; but someone who can speak from a non-Hindu standpoint. Here is a lecture by Hon. Justice of Supreme Court of India, KT Thomas. He specifically talks of the shameless propaganda against the RSS.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Abuse of BJP as an opposition<\/strong><\/p>\n

BJP has been subjected to the same abuse.\u00a0 And Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has done the same thing with his statement:<\/p>\n

\u201cOne on hand we are trying to bring peace in this country. We are also taking steps against injustice to minorities as also against infiltration. But, in the midst of all this, we have got an investigation report that be it the RSS or BJP, their training camps are promoting Hindu terrorism. We are keeping a strict vigil on all this,\u201d Mr Shinde said at the AICC session here. (link<\/a>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And this statement comes to us from our leaders.\u00a0 And Sushil Kumar Shinde is no different from Nehru, who also blasted the Jan Sangh and RSS in his time.<\/p>\n

Until now, only 3 people have been arrested, WITHOUT TRIAL, and without a strong foundation of evidence.\u00a0 One woman is in jail for crime that is neither proved nor taken off \u2013 simply on the basis of this boggie of \u201cHindu Terror\u201d.\u00a0 Given the Kashmir atrocities, given the atrocities for common Hindus (killed in scores for their religion) during the Khalistan time \u2013 when Sikhs were hurt by Congress \u2013 Hindus have had ENOUGH reasons to create terror.<\/p>\n

If Victimization is a forgivable plank for terrorism, as Syed Geelani and other terrorists, including Bhinderanwala \u2013 got a pass with, then isn\u2019t it surprising that Hindus haven\u2019t used that card as yet?\u00a0 As per the political arguments, they could have and should have used the same arguments.\u00a0 But they didn\u2019t.\u00a0 No Hindu ever went to Kashmir to kill the Muslims and throw bombs at them .. because they did that to him.\u00a0 No Hindu ever went to kill a Sikh because of how the Sikh terrorists did to innocent, non-political Hindus \u2013 by taking them out of buses and shooting them.\u00a0 Sikhs were massacred by Congress goons and it was not religion-based.<\/p>\n

If Hindu Terror was a reality, by now, India would have become Iraq.\u00a0 There are enough numbers with the majority and enough \u2013 may I say, DISCIPLINED \u2013 followers of RSS to have done that.\u00a0 But that is NOT the creed and ethos of either RSS or BJP.\u00a0 They have retaliated ONLY when the Hindus or their workers were defence-less or specifically targeted.<\/p>\n

Majority also has a right to air Grievance and Opinions<\/strong><\/p>\n

RSS and BJP \u2013 should be \u2013 vehicles to raise concerns and opinions of Hindus.\u00a0 Unfortunately, I personally feel that they are more into their ego satisfaction now than playing a constructive role for the community.\u00a0 But that lowering of standards is a national issue.\u00a0 At the grassroots, RSS workers still remain disciplined.<\/p>\n

It would be unwise to target the organizations that represent the interest of any section of Indian society.\u00a0 And, the specter of history during Partition that is raised always by equating RSS with Muslim League is also mischievous and completely false!<\/p>\n

The foundation and genesis of violence during Partition is in the call of \u201cDirect Action Day\u201d by Mohd Ali Jinnah on Aug 16, 1946.\u00a0 His breakdown of talks with Congress led him to take this route.\u00a0 \u201cDirect Action Day\u201d, meant exactly what it said \u2013 Direct Action.\u00a0 Or Violence.\u00a0 When asked what he meant by Direct Action Day, he retorted; \u201cGo to the Congress and ask them their plans. When they take you into their confidence I will take you into mine. Why do you expect me alone to sit with folded hands? I also am going to make trouble.\u201d<\/em> And, \u201cmake trouble\u201d .. he DID! In just 72 hours of riots in Calcutta, 4000 people died and 100k were left homeless.<\/p>\n

Direct Action Day was on August 16, 1946. That it was a prima facie call for violence was UNAMBIGUOUS! Dawn, a paper founded by Jinnah himself in 1941, ran an ad saying this:<\/p>\n

\u201cToday Muslims of India dedicate anew their lives and all they possess to the cause of freedom. Today, let every Muslim swear in the name of Allah to resist aggression\u201d; and stated that ?Direct Action? was the only course left to Muslims, because \u201cthey offered peace but peace was spurned, they honoured their word but were betrayed, they claimed liberty but are offered thraldom; now might alone can secure their right\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

For several months, thousands of people died in Bihar and Bengal.\u00a0 The two parties representing the two communities?\u00a0 Muslim League and Indian National Congress.<\/p>\n

RSS was present ONLY on the West side.\u00a0 Specifically in Maharashtra and Punjab.<\/p>\n

So, the entire talk and nonsense about putting Muslim League and RSS together is utterly nonsensical and lacks factual basis.<\/p>\n

Indian Home Minister becomes Motivation for Terrorists Targeting India<\/strong><\/p>\n

When Shinde as an individual says such things about BJP and RSS, that is his personal matter.\u00a0 But when he says these things as the Indian Home Minister, he loses all leverage to deal with Pakistani terrorists.\u00a0 Those who perpetuated Mumbai attacks.\u00a0 Those who beheaded the Indian soldiers or those who created the Kargil.\u00a0 Pakistanis, the Jihadis and their Government don\u2019t need any motivation to obfuscate matters with India.\u00a0 They are very capable of doing that.\u00a0 But what Shinde does is give them an official statement that terrorism in India is the work of the Hindu Organizations.\u00a0 That is all they need to further beat you with the very stick you offered them in the first place!<\/p>\n

When you focus on the irrelevant and give a pass to the critical (Jihadi organizations from Pakistan and those homegrown like Indian Mujahideen and SIMI), then you place the national interests in a lot of trouble.<\/p>\n

And therefore, YOU, Sushil Kumar Shinde should be tried for compromising the Security of the Indian nation, in order to win a few crumbs from your political masters.
