India is in a downturn.\u00a0 And the recessionary times are clear.\u00a0 State Bank of India recently received 1.7 million applications for just 1,500 entry-level clerk jobs!\u00a0 The main attraction?\u00a0 Good perks, obviously.. but \u201cJob for life\u201d status.<\/p>\n

In fact for the Probationary Officers job, the perks at State Bank seem very lucrative<\/a>, given the market.<\/p>\n

For positions in Mumbai, the bank offered a starting package of 69,000 rupees (1,270 dollars) a month for the \u201cprobationary officers\u201d including a housing allowance \u2014 an attractive perk in the expensive local real estate market.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Given how the market is now \u2013 with the growth reduced to 5% annually, jobs will become scarcer.\u00a0 In fact 9 out of 10 Indians are in irregular jobs, where there is no job security and very few perks.<\/p>\n

Unless the growth is re-activated, things will become worse for the job market in the coming days.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
