\"\"Tata\u2019s don\u2019t take their things lightly.. when they get in any area or industry.. they do a thorough job of it. Not many had predicted the rise of Tata Motors.. but it did do very well. Now Tata Motors is looking at this car which runs on compressed air. The chances are that this is not as outlandish as it may seem. Specially on the Indian city roads where the max speeds touch 60-70 kmph. I guess the average is around 20 kmph. So, for such cases this is a viable option. the price though looks a little more.. but when the fuel price is factored in \u2013 Rs 90 a fill.. it takes the sting out of one\u2019s budget!! If the Govt can give some tax breaks too because it is non-polluting.. then it would make this deal even sweeter!!<\/p>\n

Tata Motors has signed an agreement with Moteur Development International<\/a> of France to develop a car that runs on compressed air, thus making it very economical to run and be almost totally pollution free.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although there is no official word on when the car will be commercially manufactured for India, reports say that it will be sooner than later.<\/span><\/p>\n

The car \u2014 MiniCAT \u2014 could cost around Rs 350,000 in India and would have a range of around 300 km between refuels. The cost of a refill would be about Rs 90.<\/span><\/p>\n

An overview of the air car<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The technology that MDI vehicles use is not really new. Compressed air technology allows for engines that are both non-polluting and economical.<\/span><\/p>\n

After ten years of research and development, MDI is prepared to introduce its clean vehicles onto the market. Unlike electric or hydrogen powered vehicles, MDI vehicles are not expensive and do not have a limited driving range. MDI cars are affordable and have a performance rate that stands up to current standards. To sum it up, they are non-expensive cars that do not pollute and are easy to get around cities in.<\/span><\/p>\n
