These days, when everything seems to be made in China\u2026 well at least everything that we buy in the US really comes from China \u2013 it does come as a jolt when something like toys are recalled en mass by the largest toy manufacturer!! First Mattel did a massive recall <\/a>(this link also has the list of recalled toys, in case you are interested) of many character-based toys like Elmo etc. and now there is another recall<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Mattel is set to announce the recall of another toy involving a different Chinese supplier as early as Tuesday, according to three people close to the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation.<\/p>\n

Details of the latest recall were not immediately available, but one of the three people said the toy is being recalled because its paint may contain excessive amounts of lead.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This doesn\u2019t augur well for the trade situation in the long term. There will come a time soon when the Government will need to intervene in the trade with China matter! It will be difficult to ignore the needs of consumers when their kids are becoming potential victims! <\/p>\n

The truth is however that China has a stranglehold of the US economy. They sell stuff to Americans who pay dollars and Chinese invest it back in US treasury bonds. That is how US finances its deficit from buying stuff from China!! Nowadays, almost everything is made in China.. even food and food ingredients!
