Orgasm fares even worse. It is a sensation that, as per, Hindu scriptures is the closest replica of the state of total Union with the Infinite. When the body and mind are in a suspended point and something beyond takes control. But to talk of sex and orgasm is a “bad thing”.

Now in such a backdrop, many go through life without ever even getting acquainted with an orgasm. Of course, most of these never end up having a Union with Infinite either! So, they have never known that sensation.

However, there are some women who have a strange health disorder. It is called Persistent Sexual Arousal Syndrome (PSAS) also known as Persistent genital arousal disorder (P.G.A.D.). By this disorder, these women have multiple orgasms – hundreds actually – in a day. One woman had 5 orgasms in 40 minutes, while another had 3 orgasms back to back.

It would seem as if this is due to or related to increased sexual drive (nymphomania or satyriasis), but it is not. Any woman could be afflicted with it – young or old, premenopausal or using postmenopausal hormone replacement therapy, married or single.

The situation is as if one is having a sexual arousal without the drive or awareness of a sexual desire / provocation.

The main distinguishing features of PSAS are:

– The physiological responses characteristic of sexual arousal (genital and breast vasocongestion and sensitivity) persist for an extended period (hours to days), and do not subside completely on their own.
– The signs of physiologic arousal do not resolve with ordinary orgasmic experience, and may require multiple orgasms over hours or days to remit.
– These physiologic signs of arousal are usually experienced as unrelated to any subjective sense of sexual excitement or desire.
– The persistent sexual arousal may be triggered not only by sexual activity, but also by seemingly nonsexual stimuli or no apparent stimulus at all.
– The physiologic signs of persistent arousal are experienced as uninvited, intrusive, and unwanted.

Victims and Experiences

These experiences can be very distressing for the victims, although at first for some it is fairly enjoyable. Like Sarah Carmen, 24, a British woman, recounts her early experience when it all started at age 19, after she took anti-depressants:

“Within a few weeks I just began to get more and more aroused more and more of the time and I just kept having endless orgasms. It started off in bed where sex sessions would last for hours and my boyfriend would be stunned at how many times I would orgasm. Then it would happen after sex. I’d be thinking about what we’d done in bed and I’d start feeling a bit flushed, then I’d become aroused and climax. In six months I was having 150 orgasms a day-and it has been as many as 200.”

Sarah is a hair stylist and small things like whirring of hairdryers and skincare gadgets can turn her on and start the affliction.

Heather Dearmon, 34, of South Carolina, is a stay-at-home mom was just 21 and pregnant when it started. First they thought it was because of the pregnancy. But then even after the birth of her son, it didn’t stop. Soon, her life became a living hell.

Doctors, including psychiatrists, couldn’t come up with an answer for Dearmon, either. She became suicidal. “My whole life had been altered. I couldn’t even go out to lunch with friends,” she said. “To achieve three consecutive orgasms takes a long time. I felt my whole life being robbed.”

There is no particular treatment as yet. Some women try to take care of it by having increased sexual activity. Michelle Thompson, 43, a single Mom, for example, has had relationships with men where most of them gave up and were tired but couldn’t keep up with her demands. Finally she is said for have found her guy who is as eager to indulge as she is. And he happens to be her neighbor, Andrew Carr, 32. Both of them can make love 10 times a day.

“Andrew has changed my life. I’m no longer looking for a cure for my orgasms – I’ve found it,”

So, instead of fighting it, Michelle chose to enjoy it.

However, that is not the cure. For most others, its a long wait till someone finds a real cure!

Reference Links:

1. Persistent genital arousal disorder
2. Persistent Sexual Arousal Syndrome in Women
3. This Woman Can Have 200 Orgasms a Day!
