Today, Jyoti Basu died. In two years two of the biggest traitors of the Indian nation were finally taken away.. albeit at very old age. They did not deserve such a privilege!<\/p>\n
In 1962, when China attacked India, there were three factions of the Indian Communists \u2013 the Nationalists, Centrists, and the \u201cInternationalists\u201d (or Chinese-backing). B. T. Ranadive, P. Sundarayya, P. C. Joshi, Basavapunnaiah, Jyoti Basu, and Harkishan Singh Surjeet were the MOST prominent amongst those who supported China through the war. They had not only been in regular contact with the Chinese Government through the Radio Sets in CPI HQ but had also infiltrated the Indian Army.<\/p>\n
All these were arrested after the war.<\/p>\n
It is certainly a tragedy and evidence of complete poverty in Bengal of intelligent nationalists for the last over 3 decades that people like Jyoti Basu ruled unchalleneged. In fact, during the Indo-China War, almost all of the Bengali Communist leaders supported China. It is difficult to say that this state once boasted of people like Netaji, Aurobindo, Tagore and Bipin Chandra Pal! The soil has certainly lost its fertility and inherent intellect.<\/p>\n
It is even worse that such a guy was within a hair\u2019s breadth to become India\u2019s PM.<\/p>\n
I feel no shame is saying that his death came way too late. There is no reason to mourn the death of someone who lived by putting the lives of Defense officials of his own country in danger.. who in turn were always safeguarding him and his family. Such people should have been thrown out of the country to go get a Chinese passport instead.<\/p>\n
