Maoist guerrillas are \u2018worst\u2019 violators of human rights among all insurgent groups in India, a study on torture said Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The Asian Centre for Human Rights report \u2018Torture in India, 2010\u2019, released a week after Leftist rebels killed 76 security personnel in Chhattisgarh\u2019s Dantewada forests, says Maoists were brutally killing their hostages after abduction.<\/p>\n
\u2018Among all the armed opposition groups in India, the Naxalites or Maoists are probably the worst human rights violators,\u2019 the report said.<\/p>\n
Alleging that Maoists have been \u2018responsible for brutal killing of their hostages after abduction\u2019, the report said: \u2018Often the hostages are killed by slitting their throats or beheading, with sanctions from their people\u2019s courts or \u2018Jan Adalats\u2019.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018In blatant disregard for the international humanitarian law, the Maoists continued to kill civilians on the allegation of being \u2018police informers\u2019, members of the anti-Maoist civilian militia such as Salwa Judum and for not obeying their diktats,\u2019 the report said.<\/p>\n
The report has cited at least 17 examples of Maoists killing civilians, including the Sep 4 slaughter of four villagers in Bijapur of Chhattisgarh on suspicion of being police informers.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
