Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. Jason.  His name is Jason.  My childhood friend was found unresponsive on February 18, 2014.  On February 19th, I wrote this in my journal.  I haven’t been able to write since.  It says: I love Jason.  He’s a brother.  Someone I spent early days with.  Someone I thought I’d... Read more

From CBS Atlanta:  Preschoolers are better at figuring out tech gadgets than college students.  In a recent study performed at UC Berkeley tasked 106 children ages 4-5 against 170 college students with figuring out a new technical gadget with which each individual had no prior exposure to.  Ultimately, the younger children were much faster at figuring out the combinations and how to work the devices.  These results raise the questions, “What makes children such flexible learners?  Are they just... Read more

New York Times best selling author and comedian Andy Andrews joins the show this week from his home in Alabama.  Early on in his stand up career, Andy toured with the likes of Kenny Rogers and Joan Rivers, and appeared on “Nashville Now”.  Yet he realized early on that the “Nashville Now” audience had a very finite lifespan and was getting older by the minute.  Now, it was during his stint with Joan that he went to “America’s Playground”,... Read more

In 1966, I was drafted by the Oakland Raiders.  I went up to training camp in Santa Rosa, CA and immediately, I was hit with the fact that every single player there was really, really good.  So, to make the team, I had to fight every minute, every day on the field and off. This started pretty much minute one, when I walked into my room, where they had assigned me two veteran players for roommates.  Now, this was about... Read more

Suzanne Lederer leads us in connecting with God through Lectio Divina. Matthew 3:13-17 (MSG) Jesus then appeared, arriving at the Jordan River from Galilee. He wanted John to baptize him. John objected, “I’m the one who needs to be baptized, not you!” But Jesus insisted. “Do it. God’s work, putting things right all these centuries, is coming together right now in this baptism.” So John did it. The moment Jesus came up out of the baptismal waters, the skies opened... Read more

I’ve noticed a greater influx of clients I work with bringing up the topic of spiritual abuse, sharing their heart breaking experiences in vivid detail of being so disillusioned with the church and equating God with the way that they were treated in abusive church organizations… so much so that I felt it would be wise to address it. I have shared with you how there was a season in my life that I was addicted to ministry to... Read more

On a recent trip to Israel, I found myself reluctant to even be there. This sounds both sensible and selfish. After all, Israel had just attacked Syria just before we left on our trip and Syria retaliated by targeting a tourist location within a day of our arrival. Still, complaining about going abroad sounds “snobby”, selfish and inconsiderate. So as I boarded the plane, I felt like a bona fide jerk. Personally, I felt a lot like Jonah going... Read more
