Late last night the New York legislator passed a bill to legalize same-sex marriage. Shortly after the Senate passed the bill, Gov. Cuomo signed it into law. New York becomes the largest state to legalize marriage in the US.<\/p>\n

The vote in the Senate was split down party lines (33 to 29) with four Republicans joining the Democrat minority to pass the bill. There was one lone Democrat voted against the legislation, Rub\u00e9n D\u00edaz Sr. of the Bronx.<\/p>\n

The only lawmaker to speak against the bill during the vote, Mr. D\u00edaz complained about the the two-minute restrictions set on speeches. He repeatedly interrupted the presiding officer who tried to limit the senator\u2019s remarks, shouting, \u201cYou don\u2019t want to hear me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGod, not Albany, has settled the definition of marriage, a long time ago,\u201d Mr. D\u00edaz said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
