Jump high for Financial Peace<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nDave & I are going through Dave Ramsey\u2019s 13 week Financial Peace University. \u00a0It has been so good for us. \u00a0If you can join a small group, get in it! \u00a0In our small group, held at a local church, we watch the video\u2019s together, discuss & do our \u201chomework,\u201d which is essentially things like building up your emergency fund, clearing out your debt & organizing your budget. \u00a0It\u2019s been exciting to see that we are in a pretty good place though I know we\u2019ve made some stupid $ mistakes along the way. \u00a0Case in point, our only debt -besides the mortgage- is my school loan, at $3,400. \u00a0Being debt-free is a high goal of ours now. \u00a0Hurrah!<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Anyway, never in my life have I been so excited to save money, invest money & clear out our debt. \u00a0We have been trying to come up with as many creative ideas as possible for the 3 things that we would really like but our meager budget just won\u2019t give an inch. \u00a01) Saving monthly\/quarterly or yearly towards Ran\u2019s college fund. \u00a02) Saving monthyly\/quarterly or yearly towards a yearly vacation & 3) Paying extra on our mortgage -which under $90k isn\u2019t obnoxious- but wouldn\u2019t it be great to pay off in the next 11 years as compared to the next 27<\/strong> years?!?! \u00a0\u00a0(I do have one little money making plan I\u2019m cooking up, which I\u2019ll share with you in the next few blogs. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\nThe whole process also has me wondering how we can live on less and give more as well. \u00a0I\u2019ve always loved to give, but I\u2019ve never been terribly excited about freezing our standard of living like so many suggest. \u00a0I never saw the hope in that little plan, but I\u2019m starting to! \u00a0I thought the way to give more, save more & invest more was just to make more \u2014 but what do you know- there is another way! \u00a0Who\u2019d of thunk it? \u00a0Although, I\u2019ve always hoped one day Dave & I would be fully funded enough to make the salary InterVarsity would really like to pay us \u2013which by the way would allow us to do the 3 aforementioned $ goals. \u00a0Which, consequently, makes me want to be more dilligent to do my fund-raising work. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
