Amygdala<\/b>: Star Trekkin\u2019<\/a> throughout the universe\u2026 A takedown of the Minkowitz Trek-bash that\u2019s better than mine because he\u2019s, you know, seen the new show and all. He also has some good comments on Minkowitz\u2019s starry-eyed socialism, and some funny stuff about how \u201cEnterprise\u201d is not Freudian\u2026 and if you think it is, you should see your doctor. The one depressing thing I noticed in his post: The episode titles for the new series are muy lame. Compare \u201cBroken Bow,\u201d \u201cStrange New World,\u201d \u201cTerra Nova,\u201d \u201cUnexpected,\u201d \u201cThe Andorian Incident,\u201d etc., with The Original Series\u2019 \u201cBalance of Terror,\u201d \u201cCity on the Edge of Forever,\u201d \u201cA Private Little War,\u201d or \u201cPlato\u2019s Stepchildren\u201d; not to mention the numerous allusive titles.<\/p>\n

\u201cSweet Smell\u201d stinks<\/b>: That\u2019s the verdict of this Village Voice<\/i> review<\/a> on the new musical production of \u201cSweet Smell of Success.\u201d Sounds accurate. I am a huge fan of the movie\u2013it grows on you, like a fungus\u2013but have absolutely no desire to see the musical. The movie was a nasty, dark piece of work about needy characters knuckling under to their worst impulses. An overripe script, some hard acting from Tony Curtis and Burt Lancaster, what more do you want? The musical, apparently, is almost okay.
