for All Souls Day:<\/p>\n
The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God,<\/p>\n
and no torment shall touch them.<\/p>\n
They seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead;<\/p>\n
and their passing away was thought an affliction<\/p>\n
and their going forth from us, utter destruction.<\/p>\n
But they are in peace.<\/p>\n
For if to others, indeed, they seem punished,<\/p>\n
yet is their hope full of immortality;<\/p>\n
Chastised a little, they shall be greatly blessed,<\/p>\n
because God tried them<\/p>\n
and found them worthy of himself.<\/p>\n
As gold in the furnace, he proved them,<\/p>\n
and as sacrificial offerings he took them to himself.<\/p>\n
