Thursday<\/span>: All-day conference at Heritage on \u201cReligious Practice and the Family: What the Research Says.\u201d<\/a> This is totally free, they feed you, and I should be able to get an article out of it\u2026 and, uh, it\u2019s also a fascinating subject!<\/p>\n

Then, at night, I shall venture into darkest Rosslyn (it\u2019s actually about four blocks from the metro, but I am scared of suburbs) to see Synetic Theater<\/a>\u2018s wordless adaptation of Dracula<\/span>. I saw their Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream<\/span> earlier this month, and it was amazing\u2013funny, sexy, eerie, poignant, all conveyed solely through music and movement. I\u2019d been hearing about this troupe, mostly made up of Georgian immigrants, for years; I can tell you it lives up to the hype. More once I\u2019ve seen Dracula<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Friday<\/span>: \u201cNosferatu: A Symphony of Horror,\u201d<\/a> at the American Film Institute Silver theater in Silver Spring. Again, a short (though uphill) walk from the metro. Scary movie with live music. I\u2019ll be at the 9.30 screening.<\/p>\n

Saturday<\/span>: Halloween!<\/p>\n

Sunday<\/span>: \u201cNight Editor,\u201d AFI, 12.45 pm\u2013tickets only $5! Noir, and I\u2019m hoping the title indicates that there will be at least a bit of newspaper-noir, a subgenre I can never resist.<\/p>\n

(Also, this is All Saints\u2019 Day, of course, so I will be churchifying.)<\/p>\n
