I wrote this back in January, 2015. As I was meditating this morning, it occurred to me that my attention has shifted back to focusing on what I see as the unfriendly aspects of the universe–chemical warfare, warmongering, political strife, potentially irreversible climate change–what is wrong. And I know that, once I go into Narrow Focus, there is always something else to find that is “wrong.”  The full quote from Albert Einstein is:  “I think the most important question facing... Read more

I presented to Katie Hendricks’ Leadership and Transformation program on 12/3/16. Here’s the YouTube link. Enjoy the theory behind the Inner Map, including: how to generate (vs drain) your energy how to use your stories to anchor yourself to an expanded state what Real Power looks like Narrow vs. Open Focus How to maximize living from Creative Brain (To support this presentation, download the Inner Map, and Functions of the Inner Map.)   Read more

In the onslaught of current political news, how do you decide what to actually DO? Your energy can split out in many directions. You could call your congresspeople every day. You could go to the myriad of marches. You could read everything you can get your hands on, or listen to all form of news (trying to sort out “real” from “fake” information, “objective” vs “subjective” and inflammatory). You could write postcards, and try to talk with folks who may... Read more

Hello Patheos readers! If you know me, you know how much I appreciate having the right tool for the job. I love the satisfaction of getting the perfect wrench to loosen that darn rusted nut, or having the instructions specify “drill using a 5/16” bit” and having THAT EXACT BIT. Similarly, I’ve amassed a whole chest of tools and practices for creating more expanded consciousness. These will help you shift out of the stuckness and suffering of Reactive Brain and... Read more

(Hello! Are you new to my blog? Welcome! You’ll want to catch up, as this is the final segment of a 4 part series to give you some idea of the background of my work and where I’m going with it. Here’s #1; here’s #2; and here’s #3.)   Though this specific path of trying to understand how power works is my own, I know that it is epically common. Having worked with thousands of clients over three decades, I’ve... Read more

(My first blogs will give you a context for what I mean by Evolutionary Power. This is a continuation of blogs 2 (found here) and 3 (found here).  My new sense of power didn’t depend on my being right or better than or in control. In fact, I started to understand that the more I let go of control, the better I felt. As I started to plumb the depths of my inner world (which, to that point, had been... Read more

(My first blogs will give you a context for what I mean by Evolutionary Power. This is a continuation of my last blog, What is Power?) While in college, even as I enjoyed full-out expression as a radical, I was an emotional wreck. I felt depressed and anxious and had intermittent periods of wanting to die. I couldn’t make sense of life or relationships, where I was often mired in power struggle and drama. Being resentful of “the man”... Read more

(My first Patheos blogs will give you a context for what I mean by “Evolutionary Power.”)  POWER. What does that word bring to your mind? Do you have images of domineering strongmen? Of fat-cat billionaires puffing on cigars as they strategize their next massive takeover? Maybe you imagine generals or demagogues or politicians sitting around, making decisions that control the lives of millions. Not me. Not now. When I think of power, my mind goes to: Feeling waves of... Read more

We’re in the middle of a monumental evolutionary shift. Can you feel it? It’s in how we talk to each other. How we connect. What we imagine. What we’re co-creating–the new world we’re manifesting. I dare say—it’s why you spend time on Patheos, reinspiring yourself. Because you’re part of this shift. Sure, there’s some cultural drama right now. Collectively, it’s as though we had to touch back to an old way, sink into the right/wrong duality that seems to... Read more

It’s been 2 ½ months since the election. We’ve had time to be shocked, to grieve. Time to shake our fists at the unfairness of it all. Time to fantasize what country we might escape to. And—we’ve had time to look around, see who else shares our outrage. Make contact with them. And then—we’ve had time to imagine. To plan. To look at what is squarely in the face and accept the truth of it. So now, it’s time to... Read more
