Full of God, full to birthing,
\nMary howls: head back, hair tossed,
\nHands skyward with joy
\nThat wrongs are about to be righted,
\nSalvation\u2019s about to be sighted.
\nNo more groveling for crumbs of charity:
\nShe pronounces justice with crystal clarity.
\nShe\u2019s done waiting for the concentrated wealth of the 1%
\nTo trickle down magically to the other 99.
\nThe Santa System is stuck in the chimney;
\nAnd she won\u2019t be burned by it again!
\nA new kind of Christmas is coming \u2013
\nTo undo the dogma of domination,
\nSnap out of blame-the-victim hypnosis,
\nChase money-changers out of the temple,
\nRedistribute the common wealth,
\nRestore power to the people,
\nAnd send the Religious Right empty away.
\nWith one magnificent rhetorical swing,
\nMary bats the political center into left field.
\nPundits fumble, talk-show hosts mutter,
\nSuper-PAC donors quiver, campaign strategists stutter:
\nMary out-Magnificats them all.
\nSo let\u2019s get in her line and carry her sign
\nAnd holler and act as if we, too,
\nHave God in our bellies!<\/p>\n
