Not sure if it\u2019s a coincidence or not, but last week two of TV\u2019s best comedies \u2013 Modern Family<\/em> and Happy Endings<\/em> \u2013 both had storylines that revolved around bar mitzvahs, even though there was only one Jewish character on either of the shows.<\/p>\n

Happy Endings<\/em> had a plot where Max (who is actually Jewish, as is his portrayer Adam Pally<\/a>) started a gig as a \u201cbar mitzvah hype man,\u201d getting the kids excited and ready to dance. His big move was when he spun like a human dreidel. He went into business with the non-Jewish Brad, telling everyone that Brad (who\u2019s black) was Ethiopian. Their name (also the name of the episode) was \u201cBoyz II Menorah,\u201d and you should really watch this clip.<\/p>\n
