Are\u00a0we\u00a0all born with the same amount of ethical intelligence?\u00a0<\/p>\n

I would imagine that most people believe that \u201cintelligence\u201d or IQ is not something all people are born with equal amounts of (although an interesting argument anyone is welcome to take up would be that \u201cIQ\u201d is a culturally bound notion and most people are born with equal amounts of \u201cintelligence\u201d). While we may be able to increase our IQ to a certain extent, it seems (at least to me) that there are always people who are more intelligent, and seem to be naturally so.<\/p>\n

A similar argument could be said for SQ or \u201csocial intelligence\u201d (although much less quantifiable). Some people are naturally better at responding to social circumstances, \u201cfitting in\u201d, or \u201cgetting along\u201d with others. A\u00a0large amount\u00a0of in-born(?) social ackwardness is hard to overcome.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m curious whether or not\u00a0this argument can\u00a0be extend to the ethical or moral sphere as far as Mormonism<\/a> is concerned? Are\u00a0we\u00a0all born with the same amount of ethical intelligence?\u00a0In terms of this discussion it may perhaps be best to create a working definition of ethical intelligence\u2013the ability to recognize right from wrong\u2013as subjective or objective as\u00a0it may be\u00a0(so not necessarily to take action or \u201cdo\u201d the right, which would also be an interesting discussion).\u00a0I\u2019m speaking here generically and not universally. In other words there are of course those with sever\u00a0deformaties that make any universal claim impossible, so I\u2019m dealing here in a \u201cgeneric\u201d rather than \u201cuniversal\u201d sense.<\/p>\n

Can we all equally recognize right from wrong? Are we\u00a0born equals in EQ, or are some more naturally endowed than others? If we have differing levels of EQ, is it harder for some to live the gospel than it is for others?\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
