When you\u2019re curious, you find lots of interesting things to do. ~\u00a0Walter Elias Disney<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Our family has been to Walt Disney World (WDW)\u00a0in Orlando, Florida, a few times. Well, maybe more than a few. We\u2019ve even spent an entire month living there once. You can see a little bit of why\u00a0here\u00a0in my post Why Walt Disney World Is Our Favorite Place to Be a Family<\/a>.\u00a0 But perhaps the best way to\u00a0understand why WDW\u00a0is our favorite place to be\u00a0a family is to share a few of our family\u2019s favorite things from WDW.<\/p>\n
Our Favorite Places<\/h3>\n
\n
Our family\u2019s picnic table next to the playground on\u00a0 Tom Sawyer Island<\/a>. A secluded spot that is almost always open for a quiet lunch is the picnic area at the top of the island right next to imaginative boat playground.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

The dancing fountains next to the\u00a0 Journey into Imagination\u00a0<\/a>at EPCOT. Another favorite spot to stop and eat the lunches we\u00a0packed or for a little snack while the kids dodge the dancing spouts of water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

The quiet pool behind the Flame Tree Barbecue at\u00a0 Animal Kingdom<\/a>. We seldom actually purchase food there, but the tables alongside the pool gives us a chance to connect, eat, and even, on rare occasions, see the whole circle of life thing unfold right in front of us when a hungry hawk visits the ducklings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Our Favorite Traditions<\/h3>\n
\n
Running across the gang-plank from the ferryboat and onto\u00a0dry land at the Magic Kingdom! Yes, all of us. Well, my wife is usually carrying a bag or two, but the rest of us run like kids on Christmas morning.<\/li>\n
Dancing across the bridge to Adventureland. I don\u2019t know why, we just do. Except when we don\u2019t watch where we\u2019re going and slam into the posts. It\u2019s happened more times than I\u2019d like to \u2014 or can \u2014 remember.<\/li>\n
Collecting the various popcorn tubs from throughout the parks. We then use the tubs for our popcorn again on family nights after we return home.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Our Favorite Family Rides<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n
The \u00a0Kilimanjaro Safaris Expeditions\u00a0<\/a>at the Animal Kingdom. We\u2019ve been on it more times than I could ever recall, sometimes repeatedly. It\u2019s always different. And we always ride it first thing in the morning to beat the crowds as we start the day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
$\"\"$ <\/a><\/p>\n

Buzz Lightyear\u2019s Space Ranger Spin<\/a>. A close call here but the whole family seems to enjoy this one. Good idea to grab fastpasses right when you get\u00a0 to the park so you can ride again later without the wait.<\/li>\n
Toy Story Mania\u00a0<\/a>at Hollywood Studios. This ride is just fun ride\u00a0to share with the family. You need to get to the park early to get a fastpass, but the waiting area for the line itsef\u00a0is actually well-themed so any wait isn\u2019t too bad. An especially good ride for family members who are a little competitive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Our Favorite Shows<\/h3>\n
\n
Finding Nemo: The Musical<\/a>. Disney knows shows and this one is the crown jewel, in my opinion. A captivating show with an original soundtrack \u2014 with a great story behind how it came to be.<\/li>\n
Festival of the Lion King<\/a>. Another Animal Kingdom show makes our list as our kids have been in the\u00a0show parade many times. A highly interactive and memorable show that never gets old.<\/li>\n
Fantasmic!<\/a>\u00a0makes my list just because the amphitheater setting makes it a memorable night under\u00a0a magical moon and the show content has something for everyone. Get there early for good seats.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Our Favorite Memories<\/h3>\n
\n
Dancing in the streets with the\u00a0 Osborne Familys\u00a0Spectacle of Dancing Lights\u00a0<\/a>at Christmas. Every time we visit around the Christmas season, we ALWAYS make time to dance as a family in the streets during this amazing holiday light show set to festive music complete with \u201csnow.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
$\"\"$ <\/a><\/p>\n

Enjoying the campfire sing-a-long with Chip and Dale at\u00a0 Fort Wilderness<\/a>. After a festive time of singing classic Disney tunes around the campfires and winning Disney trivia contests (that would be us) we settle in with popcorn for a Disney flick under the stars on the big screen.<\/li>\n
Making special trips with Dad to the Magic Kingdom. I\u2019ve tried to make trips just with one child or with two together for a special morning with Dad. We ride some rides while the lines are short, then stop at the Main Street Bakery for an outrageously priced treat like the world\u2019s biggest brownie (that\u2019s what we call it). Then we sit on the curb of Main Street USA\u00a0 to watch the parade go by<\/a>. Good times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
I\u00a0saved the best for last:<\/strong>\u00a0my personal favorite Disney attraction is\u00a0Illuminations<\/a>\u00a0at Epcot. I would fly down just to see this stunning and inspiring show.<\/p>\n
