As a father of six children, I\u2019ve dealt with more than a few\u00a0cuts and bruises\u2013and the most dreaded of all \u2013 splinters.\u00a0Before a splinter was pulled, the fear of pain was almost always greater than the pain itself. For this reason,\u00a0each of my children\u00a0resisted attempts for healing.<\/p>\n

This resistance to healing reminds me of our spiritual lives. There is a widespread belief\u00a0in modern Christianity that walking by faith should be pain-free.\u00a0This lie, coupled with our fear of pain, keeps us from following\u00a0Christ.<\/p>\n
