I will be getting together with a group of ladies today to pray for our country. As I type this, the GOP debate is running in the background and (thus far), the candidates are acting like adults. While that gives me the slightest spark of hope, the fact is, we\u2019ve got a long ways to go toward civility, rationality, and common decency in the Republican Party.<\/p>\n

Beyond that, we need a complete spiritual overhaul in this country. We the RNC, we the DNC, we<\/i>\u00a0the people<\/i>. We all need help that can only come from above.<\/p>\n

I am burdened, as well I should be. I hope you are, too. And I hope you\u2019ll join me today at 10:30, MST (or whenever your schedule permits) to lock yourself in a closet and pray.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve put together a short, Scriptural prayer guide to help my group of ladies to focus our thoughts and hearts on how to pray. It\u2019s easy to just go about our busy lives while mindlessly praying \u201cGod, help us!\u201d- and that\u2019s appropriate. But my goal is to pray with focus, Scripture, and humility.<\/p>\n

Prayer Guide for America\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Conviction:<\/b>\u00a0What can we change about ourselves in this situation?\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n

Apathy, lack of prayer, ungrateful heart. It is our duty to pray for government authorities, with thanksgiving.\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made\u00a0for all men<\/b>, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.<\/i>\u00a0(I Tim. 2:1-3, emphasis mine)<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.
