When I was a kid, I counted down the days until Christmas because like every other kid on the planet, I was\u00a0excited. Now that I\u2019m old(er!) and obligated to do a lot of adulting, I count down the days because I\u2019m paranoid about not getting it all done before Christmas. <\/p>\n

It. <\/p>\n

What is \u201cit\u201d? <\/p>\n

Grocery shopping, menu planning, gift wrapping, shopping, toilet cleaning, preparing bedrooms for company, writing blogs that very few people read. \ud83d\ude42 I could carry on \u2026 <\/p>\n

Problem is, in the midst of \u201cit\u201d, Christ fades. He gets diminished. He decreases when He should be increasing. Granted, He should always<\/u> be increasing, but\u00a0especially at Christmas. What kind of person ignores the one being honored at a birthday celebration because food needs to be served, and presents need to be bought and wrapped? <\/p>\n

Well, Martha (Luke 10:38-42). And\u00a0unfortunately, me. So, time to refocus. Shut out the world, open the Book, pray a focused, not-by-the-seat-of-my-panty-pant-pants<\/em> prayer. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s not a difficult concept. Just hard to do \u2026 when there\u2019s much to do. <\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n

We\u2019re all familiar with\u00a0carpe diem<\/em> \u2013 seize the day! But when it comes to refocusing, sometimes all\u00a0we need is to carpe minutam<\/em> \u2013 seize the minute. Refocusing on Christ\u00a0doesn\u2019t have to\u00a0take\u00a0copious amounts of time. As a mom, I\u2019ve done everything from listen to a sermon as I clean the potties, to read a Psalm while I use<\/em> the potty,\u00a0to pray\u00a0for my family\u00a0in the\u00a0shower. <\/p>\n

The good news is that Jesus meets us where we\u2019re at in life. So if you\u2019re convinced you don\u2019t have a spare second, re-evaluate. Everyone has spare seconds that add up to a few minutes, or a few minutes that add up to a half hour.\u00a0The point for this Christmas\u00a0is: somehow, some way, carpe minutam<\/em> and get with God.<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
