Sherman<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0792556\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Richard M. Sherman<\/a>, the two guys who composed the bulk of the music for <i>Mary Poppins<\/i> (1964), <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2007\/10\/it-finally-happened.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Jungle Book<\/a><\/i> (1967), <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/10\/free-piglet.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh<\/a><\/i> (1977) and several other Disney projects, as well as the non-Disney films <i>Chitty Chitty Bang Bang<\/i> (1968) and <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/04\/charlottes-web-bring-on-farting-cows.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Charlotte\u2019s Web<\/a><\/i> (1973).  In his write-up on the brand new \u201cspecial edition\u201d of <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B000XUOIQ4\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Aristocats<\/a><\/i> (1970), Hill wrote:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It\u2019s hard to get all that excited about the meager assortment of \u201cBonus Material\u201d that Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has placed on this DVD. I mean, yet another interview with Richard M. &amp; Robert B. Sherman? Zzzzz \u2026<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t me wrong, folks. I grew up listening to the Sherman Brothers. So I love these guys and greatly admire their work. But that said, when you watch as many WDSHE releases as I do, it seems like Dick &amp; Bob are interviewed for every single DVD that Disney puts out. And \u2014 to be honest \u2014 I\u2019m getting kind of tired of looking at these guys.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Well, maybe <a href=\"http:\/\/www.variety.com\/article\/VR1117980457.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">this story<\/a> from today\u2019s <i>Variety<\/i> will spice things up, then \u2014 or maybe it will just add to the Sherman fatigue:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>. . . Disney is financing a documentary that will reveal the darker side of the venerable songwriting team of Robert and Richard Sherman.<\/p>\n<p>Jeff and Gregg Sherman, sons of Robert and Richard, respectively, are directing \u201cThe Boys\u201d and will produce. Ben Stiller\u2019s Red Hour will exec produce with Permut Presentations\u2019 David Permut. Steve Longi is co-producer.<\/p>\n<p>Stiller hopes to use the docu as the template for a feature biopic that would allow him to play Robert Sherman. Disney has committed only to make and release the docu at this point. The picture will be ready for release late this year.<\/p>\n<p>While they crafted scores of cheerful tunes such as \u201cYou\u2019re Sixteen, You\u2019re Beautiful and You\u2019re Mine,\u201d and \u201cIt\u2019s a Small World,\u201d the Shermans had a complex relationship that became so strained that cousins Jeff and Gregg didn\u2019t know each other even though they grew up just seven blocks apart.<\/p>\n<p>After meeting, the cousins, who are screenwriters, decided to make a film that would explore the spectacular career and split of the Shermans. . . .<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Let\u2019s see if the Sherman brothers do an interview for <i>this<\/i> DVD!<\/p>\n<p>And hey, if Ben Stiller ends up playing Robert (the one on the left in the above photo), who will play Richard?
