Here\u2019s another one for the better-late-than-never file. Two nights ago, the Vancouver Film Critics Circle<\/a> announced the winners of its tenth annual awards \u2014 has it been ten years already!? \u2014 and this year, it was my turn to announce who won Best Director.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the winners listed below, lifetime achievement awards were given to Nettie Wild<\/a>, a documentary filmmaker who happens to be the subject of a career retrospective at the Pacific Cinematheque<\/a> this coming weekend, and Leonard Schein, who founded the current version of the Vancouver International Film Festival<\/a> some 28 years ago and currently runs the arthouse theatre chain Festival Cinemas<\/a>.<\/p>\n
