But the ad <i>does<\/i> give us a few new images and a few new bits of dialogue, as well. Check \u2019em out below the jump.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->First, here is the TV spot itself:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Noah Movie Official Big Game Spot\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fvDbSHtWZT4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The most significant <i>visual<\/i> addition to this trailer would have to be the shots that involve bright light of some kind. I\u2019m thinking it\u2019s probably safe to say that the image below has something to do with the angels who come down to Earth and become known as \u201cthe Watchers\u201d or, alternatively (as far as this film is concerned), \u201cthe Nephilim\u201d (and note how, once again, we see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/2013\/12\/ancient-and-modern-cosmologies-in-aronofskys-noah.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">a <i>spherical<\/i> Earth<\/a>!):<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2014\/01\/vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h53m16s113.png\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2014\/01\/vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h53m16s113-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h53m16s113\" width=\"590\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12963\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Note also the shot below, which shows a bright pillar of <i>light<\/i> that sends bodies flying. This is notably different from the shots we have seen before, in which jets of <i>water<\/i> send people flying. Is this, too, related to the angels somehow?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2014\/01\/vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h52m47s67.png\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2014\/01\/vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h52m47s67-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h52m47s67\" width=\"590\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12969\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Apart from that, most of the other new images and dialogue focus on Noah\u2019s protective relationship with his family. In one voice-over that plays over some familiar images, Noah says, \u201cThe storm cannot be stopped, but it <i>can<\/i> be survived.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then, over the next two images (and a few others from earlier trailers), Noah tells his wife Naameh, \u201cWe have to protect our family\u2026 and save the innocent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2014\/01\/vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h42m36s81.png\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2014\/01\/vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h42m36s81-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h42m36s81\" width=\"590\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12974\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2014\/01\/vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h48m32s64.png\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2014\/01\/vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h48m32s64-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h48m32s64\" width=\"590\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12975\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is shortly followed, after some other shots, by a close-up of Naameh herself:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2014\/01\/vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h51m38s117.png\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2014\/01\/vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h51m38s117-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h51m38s117\" width=\"590\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12977\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And <i>this<\/i> is followed, after a few more shots, by a shot of Noah telling one of his sons, \u201cProtect your mother! Protect them all!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2014\/01\/vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h52m14s222.png\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2014\/01\/vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h52m14s222-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h52m14s222\" width=\"590\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12978\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We also get a new shot of Tubal-Cain, asking his followers \u201cDo you want to live?\u201d \u2014 no doubt just before he tells them all to storm the Ark:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2014\/01\/vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h50m19s98.png\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2014\/01\/vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h50m19s98-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"vlcsnap-2014-01-29-19h50m19s98\" width=\"590\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12982\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s about it. Though it does bear mentioning that this ad spreads the following tagline out over three separate title cards:<\/p>\n<p><\/p><center>WITNESS THE UNTOLD STORY<br>OF THE WORLD\u2019S<br>MOST EPIC EVENT<\/center>\n<p>This is an interesting pitch, inasmuch as it comes very close to a tagline that was used in the <a href=\"http:\/\/defamer.gawker.com\/heres-a-leaked-trailer-for-paramounts-troubled-biblic-1450381569\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">special trailers<\/a> shown only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/2013\/07\/church-groups-get-their-first-glimpse-of-noah.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">at church conferences<\/a>\u2026<\/p>\n<p><\/p><center>REDISCOVER THE EPIC STORY<br>\nOF ONE MAN<br>\nAND THE MOST REMARKABLE EVENT<br>\nIN OUR HISTORY<\/center>\n<p>\u2026but it doesn\u2019t quite go all the way to endorsing what you might call a historically literalistic interpretation of the Noah story in Genesis. The TV spot <i>is<\/i> aimed at a mainstream audience, after all.
