The Lion planned to <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/09\/mgm-announces-hobbit-t4-etc.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">pepper its slate<\/a> with tentpoles such as \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/11\/peter-jackson-will-not-direct-hobbit.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Hobbit<\/a>\u201d and \u201cTerminator,\u201d but neither project has worked out for the distributor. . . .<\/p>\n<p>The producers said that the new film will carry the size and scale of \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2007\/06\/governator-on-hollywood-and-vancouver.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Terminator 3<\/a>,\u201d and will have an event-sized budget. It will likely be less than the $200 million pricetag of \u201cTerminator 3,\u201d which was saddled with extravagant costs that included above the line payouts, rights payments and heavy fees incurred through a complex financial structure.<\/p>\n<p>Warner Bros. is also producing a smallscreen \u201cTerminator\u201d adaptation, \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2007\/08\/sarah-connor-chronicles-continuity.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Sarah Connor Chronicles<\/a>,\u201d for Fox\u2019s midseason sked. . . .<\/p>\n<p>A screenplay has been completed by \u201cTerminator 3\u201d scribes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0104336\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">John Brancato<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0274905\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Michael Ferris<\/a>, and the financiers and studio are close to locking a director. While industry buzz has \u201cCharlie\u2019s Angels\u201d director <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0629334\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">McG<\/a> as the odds-on favorite for the assignment, the producers said no final decision had yet been made.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/08\/terminators-increasingly-tangled.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">first two \u201cTerminator\u201d films<\/a>, directed by James Cameron, used contemporary settings to pit Sarah and John Connor against indestructible cyborgs. \u201cT3\u201d was also set in the present day and ended just as the machines initiated a nuclear apocalypse. \u201cTerminator Salvation\u201d was deliberately not given a number after its title, because Halcyon is eager to make it clear that the fourth film heads into an entirely different setting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is set in the future, in a full-scale war between Skynet and humankind,\u201d Anderson told Daily Variety.<\/p>\n<p>Borman said: \u201cThe third film was really the conclusion of what happened in the \u2018now.\u2019 You will find the most-loved characters, but the intention here is to present a fresh new world and have this be the first of a trilogy.\u201d . . .<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>And, in the tradition of \u201cJudgment Day\u201d, the next movie just might have the most religious-sounding title yet.
