{"id":1357,"date":"2007-09-14T13:40:00","date_gmt":"2007-09-14T13:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/2007\/09\/its-good-to-be-quoted-even-if-anonymously\/"},"modified":"2007-09-14T13:40:00","modified_gmt":"2007-09-14T13:40:00","slug":"its-good-to-be-quoted-even-if-anonymously","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/2007\/09\/its-good-to-be-quoted-even-if-anonymously.html","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s good to be quoted (even if anonymously)."},"content":{"rendered":"<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><head><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><\/head><body><p><span style=\"font-family: georgia\">Thanks to my colleague Christian Hamaker for alerting me to the fact that the <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2007\/09\/11\/AR2007091102208.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Washington Post<\/a><\/i>, in an article on the duds of the summer movie season, quotes a line from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianitytoday.com\/movies\/reviews\/2007\/licensetowed.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">my review<\/a> of <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/05\/license-to-wed-now-in-production.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">License to Wed<\/a><\/i>, though without linking to it or mentioning me by name.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Incidentally, I was reminded of <i>License to Wed<\/i> while watching <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2007\/09\/mr-woodcock-reviews-up.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Mr. Woodcock<\/a><\/i>, but I didn\u2019t mention this in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianitytoday.com\/movies\/reviews\/2007\/mrwoodcock.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">my review<\/a> of that film.  Both movies feature a male protagonist who tries to dig up dirt on a male antagonist, and in the course of doing so breaks into his house, embarrasses himself by publicly making false accusations based on insufficient data, and so on.  And both movies feature a female lead who you\u2019re supposed to like, but she\u2019s either so blind to the antagonist\u2019s flaws or so oblivious to the protagonist\u2019s concerns that you begin to resent her before the movie\u2019s over.<\/p>\n<p>JAN 1 UPDATE:  My line on <i>License to Wed<\/i> was quoted again, this time as the representative \u201csnippet of snark\u201d in the <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/entertainment\/ci_7853983\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Washington Post<\/a><\/i>\u2018s list of the ten worst-reviewed movies of the year.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to my colleague Christian Hamaker for alerting me to the fact that the Washington Post, in an article on the duds of the summer movie season, quotes a line from my review of License to Wed, though without linking to it or mentioning me by name.
