My interview<\/a> with Katherine Paterson, author of Bridge to Terabithia<\/a><\/i>, was cited again yesterday \u2014 this time in an excellent article by Emily Bazelon at Slate.com<\/a> on how both the book and the film treat mortality, denial, anger, and related themes.<\/span><\/p>\n

And while I like the film overall, I do agree that it \u201cnearly wrecks\u201d the final scene \u201cby bursting into Disney fantasy\u201d \u2014 a point that I considered making myself, in my review<\/a>, but you never know just how closely you should flirt with giving away major spoilers.<\/p>\n

Anyway, the book\u2019s ending was perfect, powerful, unexpected, and raised so many questions. The movie\u2019s ending \u2026 doesn\u2019t.<\/p>\n
