You know that subplot in the brilliant Spike Jonze film Adaptation<\/a><\/i> (2002; my top ten list<\/a>) where Charlie Kaufman\u2019s twin brother Donald describes a screenplay he\u2019s working on called The Three<\/i>?<\/span><\/p>\n

Last night I finally got around to watching Thr3e<\/a><\/i>, the most recent Christian genre pic to be distributed by FoxFaith<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I won\u2019t say any more, to avoid spoilers. But I swear, if I didn\u2019t know any better, I\u2019d say it was kinda weird and sad that a Christian movie had so earnestly ripped off a story that was originally conceived as a joke, as a dumb caricature of Hollywood clich\u00e9s. The thing is, Adaptation<\/i> came out in December 2002, and Thr3e<\/i> is based on a Ted Dekker novel<\/a> that came out in June 2003 \u2014 which doesn\u2019t leave much time for one to be based on the other.<\/p>\n

Granted, the two stories aren\u2019t exactly<\/i> alike. Thr3e<\/i> has no chase scenes involving a horse and a motorcycle, for instance.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
