If <i>Noah<\/i> turns out to be that film, then it would have one more thing in common with <i>Son of God<\/i>, box-office-wise, as that film fell out of the North American top ten in its fourth week of release, too.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Depending on which estimate one follows, <i>Noah<\/i>\u2019s take this week represents a drop of between 33.8% and 38% since last week, which is smaller than the 50.8% percent drop that <i>Son of God<\/i> had in its fourth week.<\/p>\n<p><i>Noah<\/i>\u2019s domestic total now stands at $93.3 million.<\/p>\n<p>The film also took in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deadline.com\/2014\/04\/intl-bo-spider-man-2-spins-47m-global-web-for-biggest-opening-of-2014-captain-america-passes-500m-frozen-highest-animated-grosser-ever-divergent-200m-global-tally\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">another $21.6 million<\/a> overseas this weekend to bring its foreign total up to $197.4 million. Confidential<\/i>\n<\/li><li>2008 \u2014 $115.1 million \u2014 <i>Body of Lies<\/i><\/li><\/ul>\n<p>While it may or may not end up behind <i>Disneynature\u2019s Bears<\/i>, <i>Noah<\/i> was bumped down the top ten by three other newcomers this week:<\/p>\n<p><i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/heaven-is-for-real\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Heaven Is for Real<\/a><\/i>, based on the Todd Burpo best-seller and heavily promoted to the \u201cfaith-based market\u201d, earned $21.5 million this weekend and has earned $28.5 million since Wednesday, which is better than some people were projecting.<\/p>\n<p>It ranked #3 for the weekend, behind <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/captain-america-the-winter-soldier\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Captain America: The Winter Soldier<\/a><\/i>, which has been #1 for three weeks now, and <i>Rio 2<\/i>, which is now in its second week.<\/p>\n<p><i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/transcendence\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Transcendence<\/a><\/i>, meanwhile, earned only $11.2 million this weekend, which is one of the lowest wide openings for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/people\/chart\/?id=johnnydepp.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">a Johnny Depp film<\/a> since the first <i>Pirates of the Caribbean<\/i> made him a significant box-office draw eleven years ago.<\/p>\n<p><i>A Haunted House 2<\/i> also opened in the top ten this week, with $9.1 million.<\/p>\n<p><i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/gods-not-dead\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">God\u2019s Not Dead<\/a><\/i> continued to show remarkable staying power in its fifth week, with a drop of only 13.3% to 22.4% since last week, depending on the estimate.<\/p>\n<p>The film, which was made for only $2 million, has earned about $48 million so far in North America, and it has presumably earned some money overseas too \u2014 it opened <a href=\"http:\/\/godsnotdeadthemovie.com\/uk\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">in the UK<\/a> this weekend and it is also playing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.diosnoestamuerto.com\/cines.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">in some Latin American territories<\/a> as well \u2014 but Box Office Mojo does not have any foreign figures for the film yet.<\/p>\n<p><i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/son-of-god\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Son of God<\/a><\/i> is beginning to see some foreign action too.<\/p>\n<p>Box Office Mojo did not have any foreign figures for the film last week, but their chart <a href=\"http:\/\/boxofficemojo.com\/movies\/?page=intl&amp;id=sonofgod.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">now indicates<\/a> that <i>Son of God<\/i> began its overseas roll-out on April 2. The film has so far earned $3.4 million overseas, which, combined with the $59.4 million it has earned in North America, brings its worldwide total up to $62.9 million.<\/p>\n<p>Here in North America, the film didn\u2019t get much of an Easter weekend bump, despite the fact that Paul Lauer sent out <a href=\"http:\/\/us3.campaign-archive1.com\/?u=f412374b0ca0cb0348851514f&amp;id=34716858c7\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">an e-mail<\/a> telling people \u201cHoly Week is the perfect time to honor our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, by going to see SON OF GOD.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The film, which originally opened in 3,260 theatres back in February, <i>did<\/i> expand <a href=\"http:\/\/boxofficemojo.com\/movies\/?page=weekend&amp;id=sonofgod.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">from 481 to 905 theatres<\/a> last week, for Palm Sunday, but it had dropped back down to 503 theatres by Good Friday. It saw slight declines in attendance on both weekends.<\/p>\n<p><b>Update:<\/b> This post has been revised to take Leonard Klady\u2019s estimates into account.<\/p>\n<p><b>April 21 update:<\/b> The final numbers are in, and <i>Noah<\/i> is #9 with $5 million, <i>Bears<\/i> is #10 with $4.8 million, and <i>God\u2019s Not Dead<\/i> is #11 with $4.6 million.
