UPDATE: On re-reading this review, it occurs to me that there are at least two points I could have gotten into, but didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

First, my review does allude briefly to the link the film makes between the commodification of meat and the exploitation of sex (more specifically, the exploitation of women\u2019s bodies), but I could have been more explicit about that; apart from the meat supplier checking out the waitress\u2019s bottom, think also of the porn film that Kinnear\u2019s character watches as he unpacks at the hotel, etc. (For more on this theme, see, e.g., Tami Wilson\u2019s Flesh<\/a><\/i>.)<\/p>\n

Second, my review doesn\u2019t get into how the film basically omits the more positive side of the fast-food industry that Schlosser\u2019s book<\/a> does describe, however briefly. More specifically, given that I was writing for a Christian audience, I believe Schlosser had positive things to say about the In-N-Out Burger<\/a> chain, which I believe is owned or was founded by Christians (I have never been fortunate enough to sample that franchise\u2019s product, though I remember people at the church I attended 15 years ago talking about the place whenever they went down to California).<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
