While investigating a case, he discovers a shocking connection between himself and the suspects in a serial killing spree linked to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a name=\"2\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">2.<\/a> <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.variety.com\/article\/VR1117953041.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Variety<\/a><\/i> reports that Ewan McGregor will star in the futuristic British flick <i>Franklyn<\/i> for director <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0573389\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Gerald McMorrow<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Pic is a split narrative set simultaneously in contemporary London and in a future metropolis ruled by religious fervor. It\u2019s the story of four lost souls, divided by two parallel worlds, on course for an explosive collision when a single bullet will decide all their fates.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/productionweekly.com\/2006\/11\/01\/mcgregor-set-to-star-in-franklyn\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Production Weekly<\/a> adds:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It\u2019s the story of four lost souls, \u2013 Esser, Milo, Emillia, and Preest \u2013 divided by two parallel worlds, on course for a cataclysmic collision when a single bullet will decide all their fates.<\/p>\n<p>Preest is a masked vigilante detective, searching for his nemesis on the streets of Meanwhile City; a monolithic fantasy metropolis ruthlessly governed by faith and religious fervor. Esser is a broken man, searching for his wayward son amongst the rough streets of London\u2019s homeless. Milo is a heartbroken thirty-something desperately trying to find a way back to purity of first love. Emilia is a beautiful art student, her suicidal art projects are becoming increasing more complex and deadly. Reality hasn\u2019t got a prayer.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>For some reason this film reminds me of <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/09\/newsbites-atlas-arabs-evil-rex.html#4\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Rex Mundi<\/a><\/i>, although that film will be set in the past, rather than the future.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"3\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">3.<\/a> My hopes for <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/10\/newsbites-green-pastures-king-kong.html#3\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Casino Royale<\/a><\/i> \u2014 specifically, my hope that it will give us the harder-edged James Bond that Ian Fleming created half-a-century ago \u2014 just went up.  The second-to-last track on the soundtrack album \u2014 whether the <a href=\"http:\/\/music.ign.com\/articles\/743\/743130p1.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">25-track version<\/a> listed at IGN.com or the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B000IOM1SW\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">11-track version<\/a> listed at Amazon.com \u2014 gets its title from the last words spoken by Bond in <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/10\/casino-royale-take-one-take-two.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">the original novel<\/a>.  And these are not words that I can imagine <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/06\/have-all-james-bonds-remembered-his.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">George Lazenby<\/a>, Roger Moore, or even Pierce Brosnan uttering (though I could certainly imagine Sean Connery or Timothy Dalton speaking this line).<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"4\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">4.<\/a> <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B00005JN5E\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">National Treasure<\/a><\/i> (2004; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianitytoday.com\/movies\/reviews\/nationaltreasure.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">my review<\/a>) was good dumb fun \u2014 and while it may have been a rip-off of <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/01\/da-vinci-code-article-archive.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Da Vinci Code<\/a><\/i> on some level, it turned out to be a lot more fun than Ron Howard\u2019s movie version of that book.  Now, <a href=\"http:\/\/comingsoon.net\/news\/movienews.php?id=17306\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">ComingSoon.net<\/a> passes on this tidbit from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mtv.com\/movies\/news\/articles\/1544539\/story.jhtml#\/movies\/news\/articles\/1544539\/10312006\/story.jhtml\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">MTV<\/a> about the sequel, which starts shooting in January:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Discussing the flick\u2019s script, Bruckheimer revealed, \u201cIt\u2019s another little treasure hunt, and this time it involves [Abe] Lincoln and John Wilkes Booth and 18 pages which are actually missing from [Lincoln\u2019s] diary.\u201d Teasing the plot further, Bruckheimer posed the central question of the sequel. \u201cWhat was in those 18 pages?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a name=\"5\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">5.<\/a> <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/05\/cory-edwards-interviews-up.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Hoodwinked<\/a><\/i> has now grossed <a href=\"http:\/\/coryscuriosities.blogspot.com\/2006\/11\/hoodwinked-hits-100-million.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">over $100 million<\/a> worldwide \u2014 with slightly less than half of that amount coming from overseas \u2014 and this makes director <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/10\/cory-edwards-tackles-ninja-turtles.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Cory Edwards<\/a> very, very happy.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Time for a few more quickies. 1.
