Time to dump some of the stories I\u2019ve been stockpiling.<\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/a> The Associated Press<\/a> reports that Becky Fischer<\/a>, the children\u2019s ministry leader depicted in the documentary Jesus Camp<\/a><\/i>, has decided not to continue with her camps at Devil\u2019s Lake in North Dakota, due to the vandalism there since the movie came out.<\/p>\n

2.<\/a> Variety<\/a><\/i> has an item up on the upcoming \u201cRichard Donner cut<\/a>\u201d of Superman II<\/a><\/i> (1980). Love the headline (\u201cSupe\u2019s on for Donner\u201d)!<\/p>\n

3.<\/a> In a similar vein, Jeffrey Wells<\/a> reports that a director\u2019s cut of Payback<\/a><\/i> (1999), reportedly titled Payback: Straight Up<\/i> and very<\/i> different from the version that was sent back for massive re-shoots and shown in theatres, is due for a DVD release early next year.<\/p>\n

4.<\/a> Remember how Michael Bay\u2019s The Island<\/a><\/i> (2005) was thought by some to be a rip-off of Parts: The Clonus Horror<\/i> (1979)? Variety<\/a><\/i> reports that a judge, rather than dismiss the Clonus<\/i> producer\u2019s lawsuit, has now ordered that it go to trial.<\/p>\n

5.<\/a> The Los Angeles Times<\/a><\/i> profiles black actors who happen to be Christian, paying special attention to Angela Bassett<\/a> and Blair Underwood<\/a> \u2014 the latter of whom played Jesus in a self-directed short film, The Second Coming<\/a><\/i> (1992).<\/p>\n

6.<\/a> Paul V.M. Flescher<\/a> looks at the role of religion in the booming Nigerian film industry<\/a>, over at his Film and Religion blog.<\/p>\n

7.<\/a> The New York Times<\/a><\/i> asked six days ago if documentaries like The Bridge<\/a><\/i> (about people jumping to their deaths from the Golden Gate Bridge), Exit: The Right to Die<\/a><\/i> (2005) and even Dying at Grace<\/a><\/i> (2003) constitute a new form of \u201crespectable snuff film\u201d. Along the way, the Times<\/i> story mentions the Faces of Death<\/a><\/i> (1978) series in passing, describing it as \u201cclip compendiums of sundry fatalities ranging from the blatantly falsified to the apparently genuine.\u201d And then, two days ago, Variety<\/a><\/i> and the Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/i> happened to mention that J.T.
