1.<\/a> Production Weekly<\/a> says Danish bad boy Lars von Trier<\/a> is finally going to shoot Antichrist<\/i> next summer. He\u2019s been talking about this project \u2014 which is \u201cbased on the theory that it was Satan, not God, who created the world\u201d \u2014 for at least the past two years, but Cinematical<\/a> says he had to ditch an earlier version of the script after one of his producers talked too freely about its contents.<\/p>\n

2.<\/a> Is Emma Watson, the now-16-year-old girl who plays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter<\/a><\/i> movies, thinking of leaving the franchise? With only two more films to go? That is certainly one way to read her recent comments in Newsweek<\/a><\/i>. Then again, producer David Heyman says Watson went through this same questioning process before the third and fourth films, too.<\/p>\n

3.<\/a> The New York Times<\/a><\/i> says the budget for Evan Almighty<\/a><\/i>, the sequel to Bruce Almighty<\/a><\/i> (2003), has swelled to $175 million, and Jeffrey Wells<\/a> thinks this spells doom for the film\u2019s funniness.<\/p>\n

4.<\/a> Variety<\/a><\/i> reports that the sequel to Alien vs. Predator<\/a><\/i> (2004; my review<\/a>) starts shooting here in Vancouver next week. They\u2019re calling it Alien vs. Predator 2<\/i>, though a Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/i> story back in June said the new film would be \u201ca complete reinvention of the 2004 horror film\u201d. If it comes out in 2007 as planned, it will mark the shortest gap between Alien<\/a><\/i> movies \u2014 easily beating the five years between Alien\u00b3<\/i> (1992) and Alien Resurrection<\/i> (1997).<\/p>\n

5.<\/a> Variety<\/a><\/i> reports that Jean-Jacques Annaud<\/a> is developing a \u201cmythic comedy\u201d called Sa majeste minor<\/i>, or Her Majestic Minor<\/i>:<\/p>\n

\u201cMinor\u201d takes place on an Aegean Sea island, before the founding of Ancient Greece, and mixes people and myths.<\/p>\n

Pic toplines French thesps Jose Garcia and Vincent Cassel and Spanish actor Sergio Peris-Mencheta.<\/p>\n

Screenplay was written by Gerard Brach, who died Sept. 9 in Paris. Brach penned Annaud\u2019s \u201cQuest for Fire\u201d and \u201cThe Name of the Rose.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sounds just different enough to grab my<\/i> attention, at least.<\/p>\n
